"Let he who is without sin cast the first stone." John 8 - Mr. Woods, as the founder of PositiveBlackImage.com, I would like to thank you for your positive contributions over the years. I am aware of your efforts to help the Black community and all people through your national and international efforts. I want to thank you personally for your generosity when you helped me to give gifts that inspired hundreds of children at the 2000 Arizona Music Festival that I sponsored. You provided resources without asking for anything in return; and for that I thank you. Though you have had some personal tribulations as of late, I wanted you to know that you are appreciated and your humanitarian efforts have not gone unnoticed. Thank you, Eddie Williams

Nigger For Life
Written by Neal Hall, M.D.
Tuesday, 02 March 2010

"a warrior of the mind, a warrior of the spirit, an activist, a poet."

   - Cornel West, Ph.D.

Neal Hall, M.D., graduate of Cornell and Harvard, ophthalmologist and poet, has published a critically acclaimed anthology of verse, Nigger For Life, reflecting his painful, later life discovery, that in "unspoken America," race is the one thing on which he is "first" judged, by which he is "first" measured, "first," against which his life and accomplishments are metered diminished value, dignity, equality and justice. All of which have everything to do with accessing choice, opportunity, power and freedom in America.

Race and stroke
Written by Virginia Howard
Tuesday, 02 March 2010
Race and stroke...Researchers know that blacks are more likely than whites to die of a stroke. What they're less clear about is why - whether, for instance, strokes are more common among blacks. At the University of Alabama at Birmingham, researcher Virginia Howard says blacks may have more strokes. She bases that on five years of data on close to 27,000 people, of whom almost 300 had strokes.

Doris Miller - Distinguished Sailor Saluted On Stamp
Written by U.S. Postal Service
Thursday, 04 February 2010
The first black American hero of World War II, Miller became an inspiration to generations of Americans for his actions at Pearl Harbor on Dec. 7, 1941.

Miller was born into a family of sharecroppers and raised near Waco, TX. Imposing in stature, he played football in high school and later showed skills as a heavyweight boxer. In 1939, at 19, Miller enlisted in the Navy as a mess attendant, the only job rating open to Blacks at the time.

Miller was serving aboard the battleship West Virginia when the Japanese attacked while it was moored at Pearl Harbor. When damage to the ship prevented him from reaching his regular battle station, Miller helped with efforts to rescue his shipmates, scores of whom were wounded or trapped in wreckage. He was later ordered to the bridge to assist in moving the ship's captain, who had been mortally wounded.
